About SeaLhyfe

Off the coast of Le Croisic, at Centrale Nantes’ offshore pilot site, SEM-REV, Lhyfe has developed the first offshore hydrogen production facility in the world. Lhyfe and Central Nantes had an ambitious goal: to make offshore renewable hydrogen become a reality, by demonstrating the reliability of an electrolyser at sea.

The offshore pilot site met all the necessary conditions – including the presence of MREs and strict environmental criteria – to validate the offshore hydrogen production technology before considering large-scale industrial deployment in 2024. DNV’s energy and risk management specialists were able to carry out safety studies to identify the main risks.

This project, a real catalyst for the development of a major hydrogen production industry, is already supported by the Pays de la Loire Region, the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique and the Comité Stratégique de Filière (CSF) des industriels de la mer.
